Established in 1989, SSI Compaction Systems, Inc. was established to meet the changing needs of the solid waste and recycling industries throughout the world. Recognizing the trend toward construction of larger regionalized landfills for municipal solid waste disposal, SSI began developing transfer station compactors to provide cost effective, effecient, and sustainable solutions for its customers. SSI compactors have been time tested in rigorous environments and continue to reliably serve our customers many years after their initial purchase.

With in-house design, engineering and customer service, SSI can tailor a compaction system solution to meet the most exacting processing specificatons.
We installed our first compactors in 1991 for the Metropolitan Service District (Metro) located in Portland, Oregon. These machines are still in use today and help the region transfer up to 500,000 lbs of solid waste annually, serving as a vital link between the communities solid waste collection services and the landfill.
